Warm Modern is the signature direction at Cutting Edge — the cinematic restraint of modernism softened by walnut, raw bronze, and a fireplace that burns at eye level. The architecture is reductive: clean planes, big steel-framed windows, deep overhangs. The materials are not: rift-sawn oak floors with a 3% finish, hand-rolled bronze hoods, travertine slab walls that show the geology of the stone.

Texture and patina. Warm Modern uses the same architectural restraint as modernism but introduces materials that the hand wants to touch: rift-sawn walnut, hand-rolled bronze, leather that ages, boucle that softens light. Done well, it feels like a private gallery rather than a showroom.
Walnut runs 2–3× the cost of oak by linear foot. We typically use walnut surgically — accent walls, millwork, integrated cabinetry — and let oak carry the floor. Budget impact is 4–8% of overall finish allowance.
Anywhere with a view that justifies the steel-framed glass: oceanfront, canyon, lake, or a deeply landscaped private lot. The architecture is built to frame the outside.
